Good evening, and welcome to Dam Bain's Sleepy Time Mumbles, a podcast you can miss. I'm me, I'm Dan Bane, and every episode I improvise a low stakes podcast for you to fall asleep to. Friends, it's been a while since I've done this, but before we begin tonight's episode, I would like to take a moment to read some listener mail. This listener mail comes from user. But the good thing is yes. Yeah. But nonetheless, there are a few people with discerning tastes, as we will hopefully find out. But the good thing is rights. Possibly my favorite thing about Autotahi. Now, Autotahi, of course, is the Maori name for Christchurch where I live. And let me tell you, friends, there are many things here. It is New Zealand's second largest city. So that's high praise to be possibly someone's favorite thing. I continue. Five stars for such an excellent sleep support. Although sleep and I have never had the easiest of relationships. My mother used to let me listen to radio plays when I couldn't sleep as a child. And at my age now, I have a plethora of sleep health support. Hello, magnesium, sleepy tea, etc. Yawn. But the most enjoyable and yet effective is sleepy time mumbles. Now that's a review, friends. I don't want to be like lift your game. That would be rude. But uh that's very that's that's a lot of compliments. It continues. I set my sleep timer for ten or fifteen minutes and fall asleep sometimes before it ends. Fall asleep sometime before it ends. That's quite a different meaning. I put that S in there. I have been a subscriber now for over a year and appreciate your commitment and not having ads. It makes switching off so much easier. Numai. For those of you not in New Zealand, i.e. most of you, he said not bitterly at all, uh, that is a sign off of positivity in today Omari. Okay. Five golden stars from but that good thing. No, no, honestly, I I really appreciate what you've been doing here. This whole approach that you've developed. It's really it's really working out and I don't quite understand why you're so I don't want to say defensive but disbelieving perhaps in the past has someone has someone told you that the way you go about things isn't the right way to do things or have they made some sort of remark that would make you sort of go to that default um way of thinking because I think they were wrong. No, really I do. I I think you've done a great job, and one of the things I really love is how tidy everything has remained in the uh aftermath of your efforts. You've really managed to keep the scope to a controllable level. You haven't let it you haven't let things blow out of proportion. You've kept everything within your your circle of control. And that's really enabled you to demonstrate what I would refer to as a a significant level of mastery. No, I don't I don't mean that in a when were you going to admit to having made this mistake? What I mean by that is when were you going to let us know you'd done this so we could celebrate you for these incredible achievements. And I understand that you want to remain modest, of course. The the Kumara does not speak of its own sweetness, as the saying goes, but in this instance, allow me to speak of your metaphorical sweetness. This is really really impressive. Has someone trained you to do this? Or my inkling is you maybe just figured this out for yourself because what I'm seeing what I'm saying seems incredibly idiosyncratic. I don't think many people would have approached this the way that you have, and I certainly think that many people who would try approaching it this way would fail. But not you. You really pulled it out of the bag. You really you've you've knocked it out of the park with this one. You you've just smashed it. This is phenomenal and anyone who says otherwise is doesn't have the sense they were born with. Their two sandwiches short of a picnic. Two pins short of a strike. Yep. It is now what I'm I guess trying to trying to emphasize without embarrassing you, because I understand that this kind of a level of scrutiny is sometimes not really ideal to continuing to be able to produce things to this level. Sometimes the the observation of it or the attention brought to it makes it harder to achieve. A degree of artificiality to what was originally intuitive, instinctive, effortless. I think you should be proud though. I think you should be I think you should be very proud. I think you've I think you've done You've done yourself proud. You did a good job. You've done your ancestors You've done your ancestors proud. They're impressed. They didn't see this coming. Because I think they were wrong. No, really I do. And to be honest, neither did I. I don't think a lot of people saw this coming, and that's that's why I I've had to reconsider that maybe we've all been underestimating you quite quite significantly. And that's a real that's a real mistake that uh well I and the organization and all of these people we're gonna have to go and have a long hard look at ourselves in the mirror. A real a real soul search that's what we're gonna need to do because I think for a long time now we've we've been getting it wrong and you yeah, you've been getting it right. So I think we need to look at what we can learn as a group from what you've done today because I think this is really important. I think what you've done is really important, and yes, I want us to benefit from it. I want it to improve things for us all, but most of all it's very important that you see the benefit from this that you reap the rewards because they can be fewer and few and far between in this life and sometimes it feels like a man is not even entitled to the sweat of his brow.
