Good evening, and welcome to Dan Bane's Sleepy Time Mumbles a podcast You Can Miss. I'm Dan Bain, Devery Episode I improvise a low stakes podcast for you to fall asleep to. So put down your phones, turn off your screens, close your eyes. Now it's time to be mumbled to sleep. Micro sleep number six. Shall we check the wine list? Tonight's options for wines. We have a wide a wide range of wines. Would you like a Cabernet Sauvignon? If you would like a Cabernet Sauvignon, we have a Camus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This quintessential Napa Cabernet opens with an intense bouquet of cassus, blackberry compote and black cherry layered over cedar, vanilla pod and cigar box. The palette. The tannins? Oh the tannins are substantial, but polished, carrying the wine towards a long finish marked by black currant, toasted oak, and a hint of graphite. Powerful yet remarkably approachable. Perhaps you would prefer a Pinot Noir. If you would prefer a Pinot Noir, we have a cloudy bay, Pinot Noir, bright ruby in colour. This wine offers lifted aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry, alongside subtle notes of dried thyme and forest floor. The palate is silky and finely textured, balancing vibrant acidity against delicate fruit sweetness, layers of cranberry, rose petal, and earthy mushroom unfold gradually, leading to an elegant finish that lingers with savory complexity and gentle spice. Perhaps Syrah would like a Syrah. If Syrah would like a Syrah, we have a Pinfold State. A Pinfolds, I thought it was Pinfold's estate. Saint Henry Shiraz. Confused there. Let us continue. I'll tell you a little about it. This is a deeply colored Shiraz, showing concentrated aromas of blackberry, plum, and blueberry, intertwined with black pepper, smoked meat, and violet. The palate is dense and muscular, revealing waves of dark fruits supported by savory notes of olive tapanada, licorice and charcoal. Fine grained tannins provide structure while the finish delivers persistent spice and smoky complexity. Would you like a merlot? If you would like a merlot, we have a duckhorn merlot. The nose combines ripe plum, black cherry and blueberry with hints of cocoa powder and vanilla. On the palate the wine is plush and rounded, showcasing generous fruit framed by supple tannins, notes of mocha, sweet spice, and dried herbs add depth without overwhelming the varietal's characteristic softness. The finish is smooth, velvety, and highly approachable. Perhaps you would prefer a Chardonnay. If you would prefer a Chardonnay, we have a Khmer River Estate Chardonnay. Complex aromas of lemon curd, white peach and nectarine rise from the glass alongside subtle hazelnut and brioche notes. Combining ripe stone fruit with citrus freshness and a creamy texture derived from barrel fermentation. Layers of toasted almond, buttered pastry, and mineral tension carry through to a long refined finish. A Riesling? If you would prefer. A Riesling, we have a Dr. Luzon Blue State Riesling. Tell you about it? Of course. Fragrant aromas of lime blossom, green apple, and white peach are joined by distinctive slate-like minerality. The palate balances delicate sweetness against razor sharp acidity, creating remarkable tension and freshness. Citrus fruit, honey, and jasmine evolve across the mid-pellate while the finish remains focused and crystalline. Crystalline, I say, with lingering lime and whetstone characteristics. Prefer a Malbec. I enjoy a Malbec myself. If you would like a Malbeck, we do have a Katina Malbeck. Dark and opaque in the glass. This wine offers intense aromas of blackberry, black plum, and violet. The palate is generous and fruit-driven, featuring rich flavours of blueberry, cocoa, and sweet spice supported by velvety tannins. Despite its concentration there is freshness and balance throughout, culminating in a mouth finish marked by dark chocolate and black pepper. Oh, a tempranillo? Well if you would like a tempranillo, we do have a La Rioja Altavina That wasn't my best work. It's a cold read, team. It's a cold aromas of sour cherry. Dried fig and plum mingle with cedar, leather, and tobacco. The palate is structured yet elegant, displaying red and black fruit layered with savory notes of spice, earth and vanilla from extended oak aging. The finish is long and harmonious, revealing increasing complexity as the wine opens in the glass. Oh you'd prefer a Gewürztramena? Well if you would like a Gwstramina, I do have a Trimbach Gwz. An intensely aromatic wine with exuberant notes of lychee rose petals and orange blossom. The palette is rich and textured, delivering flavors of candied ginger, Turkish delight, and ripe tropical fruit. Lower acidity creates a broad, almost oily mouthfeel, while exotic spice and floral notes dominate the lengthy finish. The overall impression is opulent, perfumed, and distinctive.
